Judith Ann Babel

Judith Ann (Dower) Babel passed away on Dec. 9, 2017, at the age of 74. Judy was born Aug. 30, 1943 in Niagara Falls, New York, to May and John Dower. She was raised on Grand Island, New York, and attended Charlotte Sidway School through 8th grade. Since there was no high school on the island at that time, she attended Mount Saint Mary Academy in Kenmore, New York, through her sophomore year then transferred to Madonna High School in Niagra Falls, and graduated in 1961.

Judy spent her freshman year of college at Richmond Professional Institute in Richmond, Virginia. Sophomore year at Ithaca College-Ithaca, N.Y. and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1965 with a bachelors degree in Physical Education majoring in dance.

She married Gary Lee Babel of Superior, Wyoming, at the Newman Center in Laramie on June 5, 1965. They spent their first year in Rock River, Wyoming, where Gary taught high school math and science and Judy opened a dancing school. The following year they returned to Laramie to further their educations. Judy was certified in elementary education. Judy’s first year of teaching for the school year was in Kemmerer, Wyoming teaching fifth grade.

They then moved to Saratoga, Wyoming where they made their permanent home and raised three children. Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Services will be on 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29 at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Saratoga with internment at the Saratoga Cemetery and a light lunch to follow at St. Ann’s Parish Hall.
