Shop Small sales Saturday in south county

In the spirit of the holidays and the Small Business Saturday initiative, Encampment and Riverside are hosting a “Shop Local” Day on Saturday, December 9. All the planning has been done, just follow this itinerary for a pleasurable shopping experience in beautiful Encampment and Riverside. You can start in either town, but just make sure you hit every shop or restaurant at least once.

Riverside

Riverside Garage is offering a chance to win $100! Just stop in, say “howdy” to owners Dana or Rocky and pick up a ticket to enter. You don’t need to be present to win. Feel free to shop, browse, and just enjoy the historic ambiance of this cute shop. You can even ask about details to rent their cabins for your summer visitors.

The Trading Post will be celebrating 32 years in business. In honor of that milestone, they are offering 32 percent off select items. The items could be anything like from apparel to knives. You’ll have to stop in and see for yourself what exactly is on sale. This sale is from December 7-9. Did you know the Trading Post also rents cross-country ski gear? Yep, they do! So get ready for some fun in the snow.

Encampment

Local artisans will be selling their art and crafts at the Christmas Craft Bazaar held at the Opera House from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Everyone loves a unique present for Christmas so make sure you stop in at the Opera House.

Chez Booze will be offering a good deal Saturday. (By the way, Chez Booze is pronounced “Shay Booze.” It’s French we think). The deal is: buy 6, and save $5. You can mix and match wine or spirits in the deal. Take part in the deal and you will also get a cool carrier for your purchase.

Good Things is offering 20 percent off many items. This store is cool and that’s all there is to it. When you step in, you will explore room after room of antiques, new stuff, and gently used stuff. They have jewelry, art, ceramics, vintage clothing, greeting cards and more.

The Red Wagon will be celebrating their 4th anniversary with a big holiday sale. When you enter this store, a wave a fun washes over as you decide which way to start. You’ll know what we mean when you get there. They have antiques, handmade items like hats, mittens, art supplies, furniture, and more. You can even order a coffee, hot chocolate, or a latte at the How You Bean? Coffee shop. Have you seen their bathroom? We’ll leave you hanging with that question.

The GEM Store at the Grand Encampment Museum (GEM): The GEM is offering a 15 percent discount on lots of stuff including all history and CJ Box books, GEM attire, toys, and more. The GEM two-story outhouse t-shirts are on sale, too. They are fashionable and make fun gag gifts for your favorite sibling or in-law. The GEM also sells American made, old timey wooden toys like yo-yos, tops, and Jacobs ladders. Hot cider and cookies will be served Saturday.

Lunch and/or Dinner/Coffee/Beer. The Bear Trap Café and Bar, The Mangy Moose, The DiVide, and Dee’s Bar and Grill are all delicious. The How You Bean? Coffee Shop in The Red Wagon also offers a light lunch, desserts and hot drinks. A yummy experience will be had at these fine eating establishments.
