Library fine

The Elk Mountain Public Library was full for its dedication ceremony on Monday.

The initial fundraising for the library started on September 15, 2016 and the library was officially completed on July 8, 2017. The town of under 200 residents raised $230,000. Walter Scott and his family teamed up to raise almost 75 percent of the funds. The Double 8 Ranch, The McMurry Library Endowment and Thieriot Family Foundation gave significant contributions along with the town.

The dedication also celebrated Jacob Mickelsen, Carbon County Library Director, who received the Outstanding Hero Award, which recognizes an exceptional person or group whose hard work made a difference in the last two years.
