Stuck on the blocks

Tiger track misses two meets due to weather

The unpredictable spring weather in Wyoming conspired to deny Encampment High School’s track team the opportunity to shine over the weekend, as both meets the team planned on attending were nixed due to weather.

The March 31 meet in Rawlins, the Rawlins Invite, was canceled due to weather. The April Fool’s Day meet scheduled to be held in Wheatland, the Wheatland Invite, was postponed until May 2 because of weather.

Two other East County track teams, Saratoga and Hanna, were scheduled to attend the same events. Saratoga and Hanna elected to travel west to Rock Springs for the Rock Springs Invitational Saturday.

The Saratoga Sun was not able to get through to Encampment’s coach by press time, but was told by a school official that the team had not gone to Rock Springs.

The next scheduled track meetings for Encampment High School are the Okie Blanchard Invite in Cheyenne Friday, followed by the Guernsey-Sunrise Invite in Guernsey Saturday.
