Kids encouraged to audition for 'Princess'

The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) will be holding auditions for its original adaptation of “The Princess and the Pea” at Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC).

The auditions, held 4-6 p.m., Nov. 1 at the PVCC, are expected to fill numerous roles in the production. Children from kindergarten age to 12th grade are encouraged to audition. Those who do should expect to stay the full two hours, as there may be a rehearsal for cast members afterward.

The MCT, according to papers filed with the U.S. government, is a nonprofit organization devoted to “The development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts.” According to its website, the organization puts on productions in all 50 states, five Canadian provinces and 16 other foreign countries.

Among the roles to be cast are: the Princess; the Pea; King and Queen Size of Riverdom; Storm King and Snow Queen of Glacierdom; the Prince; the mischievous Jack Frost; the citizens of Riverdom and Glacierdom; the Dust Bunnies, some wannabe Princesses and some meddling leprechauns.

Two presentations of “The Princess and the Pea,” will be held Nov. 5 at the PVCC theater. There will be one matinee and one evening production.
