Kunz sentenced to 3 to 6 years

Saratoga resident Sherry Kunz, 45, appeared in second district court in Rawlins on April 25 for sentencing after pleading guilty to obtaining property by false pretenses, a felony.

Judge Wade Waldrip sentenced Kunz to 3 to 6 years in prison, with five years suspended sentence. She was also ordered to pay $38,728.77 in restitution to Spur Outfitters, as well as various court fees.

Kunz had been accused of embezzling nearly $40,000 from her employer, the Silver Spur Ranch in Encampment, and was charged with theft, obtaining property by false pretenses and forgery. Kunz could have been sentenced to a maximum of 30 years in prison had she been convicted of all charges.

A representative of the County Attorney’s office would not comment on the plea or the sentence.
