American Legion Auxiliary News

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 54 met Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post Home.

We heard reports from the last two events that were held by one unit, the Slave Auction and Rumble Sale and the River Raft Poker Run.

Discussion was held about the events and fund raisers that the unit holds throughout the year and how well we do financially on these events.

It was reported that the Department of Wyoming President, Becky Allred will make her official visit to one unit November 7, 2015 at noon. Tentative plans were made for that meeting.

October is cookie month for our unit. We urge the members to bake as many cookies as they would like for the veterans at the VA facility in Cheyenne. We would like to have all the cookies by October 20, 2015 so we can get them to Cheyenne to be enjoyed by the vets. Cookies can be dropped off to Fran at Do It Best Lumber.

Auxiliary members will be receiving their membership renewals by mail soon. Unit 54 is asking everyone to renew in a timely manner so that we can meet our milestones and goals throughout the year.

We would also like to remind the members that we meet the third Tuesday of each month a 6:30 p.m. at the post home and welcome anyone who wishes to attend. We appreciate support from all our members and it is that support that will help make this a successful year for our unit. The next meeting is September 15, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Home at 403 E. Bridge Ave. in Saratoga.

Officers for the 2015-16 year are as follows: Fran Payne Rogers, President; Kathleen Martin, Vice President; Diana Galbraith, Secretary; Donna Younger, Treasurer.
