Town seeks applicants for open seat

In Riverside on Thursday, new mayor Leroy Stephenson and councilman Ed Golden were sworn in for the first time and councilman Fred Lorenz renewed his oath of office at the start of a new term. Councilwoman Margaret Weber retains her seat during a her current term on the council.

The first order of new business was to officially seek applicants for the council seat left vacant when Stephenson moved from his unfinished term on the council to the position of mayor.

As part of his new responsibilities as mayor, Stephenson will now be a Voting Delegate for the Wyoming Association of Municipalities, with his first duties a their winter workshop this week.

New town representative to the South Central Wyoming Emergency Management Services (SCWEMS) Joint Powers Board, Kelly Ralston, reported the major points of the SCWEMS meeting in Saratoga on Wednesday. The council asked Ralston to keep reporting major updates on SCWEMS, something that has been notably lacking in other communities.

The consensus funding grant money is in place and will greatly benefit Rick Martin Memorial Park. Projects discussed were landscaping, new maintenance equipment, disc golf equipment and rehabilitating the ramada.
