Jean Ann Schlaefer

September 15, 1960

August 22, 2014.

Jean "Jeannie" Ann Schlaefer lost her four-plus year battle with ovarian cancer at 10:55 a.m. Aug. 22, 2014 on the 3rd floor ICU at St Mary's Hospital surrounded by her family.

There was a private service for Jeannie on Tuesday Aug. 26, 2014 for the family to say farewell for the last time.

She was born on Sept. 15, 1960 in Laramie, Wyoming to Charles E. and Georgia A. (Marriner) Fleenor. She spent her childhood growing up in Wyoming and graduated from East High in Cheyenne, WY. She then moved to Denver, CO., to attend Mile High Reporting College.

Jeannie started her professional career as the official court reporter for Judge Hill in Rawlins, Wyoming in 1979 after she graduated from the Mile High Reporting College. Judge Hill married Jeannie and Joe in the court house in 1986 and seven years later she decided to become a full time mom for Luke and Amanda.

ln 1993 the family moved to Grand Junction, CO for two years and then on to Montrose, CO., to pursue a better employment opportunity for the family. Then moved to Delta County in 2004 after building their dream house.

Over the years Jeannie has enjoyed camping, travel in the USA and overseas, gardening, and living in the wide open spaces of Wyoming and the western slope of Colorado. She very much loved being a full time  mom and was a great cook and an excellent professional homemaker (birthday cakes and Halloween costumes were some of her more creative accomplishments). Her favorite hobbies of late were crocheting, crafts and playing the piano.

Amanda and Luke will always remember what a great mom Jeannie was. She meant the world to them.

She had an answer for every question they ever wondered. Questions about life, growing up, cooking, crafts, you name it she knew it. They could call her about anything and did. She would always listen and give advice.

Jeannie is survived by her husband Joe, son Luke, daughter Amanda, her beloved poodle Blizzard, brother James P. Fleenor of Evanston, WY, and sisters Judy I. Kelley of Grand Junction, Colo., and Jo Lynne G. Bockman of Fairmont, Minn.

Jeannie was preceded in death by father Charles E. Fleenor, mother Georgia A. Fleenor.

A memorial service for Jeannie was Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at her dream home, 1231 1650 RD, Delta, CO 81416.

ln lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Jean's name to the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance, http://www.colo-ovariancancer.org/.
