Copper Days Festival chugs into third decade

The Encampment/Riverside Lions Club will once again host the Copper Days Festival. Now in its 20th year, the festival will feature many family friendly activities throughout the weekend.

At 11 am, on Sept. 6 and 7, attendants can watch antique tractors pull heavy, weighted trailers to compete for the title of strongest tractor. The competition tractors have been collected for decades by those who reminisce about simpler times when hard work was rewarded with an afternoon of friendly one-ups-man-ship. Enthusiasts often come from all over the region to compete in the competition.

The tractors will be on parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Both events will be held at the Saratoga Lions Club Arena and are free to the public.

On Saturday evening, a community dance is scheduled featuring Brighton, Colo.-based band The Polka Nuts. Admission is $10 per person, and children 12 and under are free. Dance will be from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday at the Encampment Opera Hall.

On Sunday, there will be a non-denominational Worship Service at the Lions Club Arena prior to the tractor pull.
