Carbon County Libraries hosts book discussion, sale

“The Invention of Wings” by Sue Monk Kidd is the book to read for the Encampment Library’s Book Discussion Group. The Encampment/Riverside group will meet Sept. 18 at 7 p.m., at the Encampment Library. To reserve your copy of the book, contact Dawna Martin at 307-327-5775.

On Sept. 27, the Saratoga Friends of the Library will kick of its Fall Book Sale. The book sale begins on Saturday at 10 a.m., and again at noon on Sunday. The sale goes both days until 4 p.m.

Beginning on Monday, Sept. 29 through Oct. 3, the sale will be during Saratoga Library regular hours.

All sales are donations unless otherwise marked. Proceeds go the Friends of the Saratoga Library.

The Friends of the Saratoga Library is run by volunteers and is looking for more participants. The organization supports the Saratoga Library and meets four times per year.

The purpose of Friends of the Library is to focus public attention on the library and its services; to stimulate and promote the use of the library’s resources, to sponsor cultural and related programs that are of interest to the community, to encourage gifts, endowments and memorials to the library.

The Friends of the Saratoga Library assists in sponsoring speakers and activities for adults and children. It also donates items to the library such as books, CDs, movies, tables and games. The Friends of the Saratoga Library holds book sales to raise funds for these activities.

New offices will be elected at the next meeting which at 7 p.m., Sept. 29 at the Saratoga Library at 503 West Elm St. in Saratoga.
