Encampment puts money towards improvements

The Encampment Town Council approved spending up to $750 to repair a propane gas line that has been leaking at the Opera House at their Aug. 14 meeting.

Other purchases approved include a skid-steer mounted brush hog, the use of recreation board grant funding to fence the archery range and the installation of a bathroom at the industrial park. The bathroom would be located behind the Doggett Greenhouse shop.

The Master Service Agreement between the Town of Encampment and PMPC Civil Engineers was extended for five more years, as per a clause in the existing agreement which would have expired on Aug. 19.

PMPC will be researching the replacement of several fire hydrants in Encampment and what requirements there are to meet Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality standards. There is also a question of how many hydrants are currently served by the necessary 6-inch water lines, and how many will have to be upgraded.

For the last three months Union Telephone has presented their bills late and often with inaccuracies. Because of this, approval of a current bill has been impossible and the council voted to allow the clerk to pay the next telephone bill when it arrives.

The council is also offering to host a Carbon County Council of Government’s meeting in Encampment and suggested a date in May of 2015.

The next town council meeting Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.
