Stacy Crimmins, Executive Director of the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce, recently graduated from the Institute for Organization Management (IOM) in Madison, Wis.
The IOM is a professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Awarded to all graduates of the Institute program, the IOM Graduate Recognition signifies the individual's completion of 96 hours of course instruction in nonprofit management.
IOM is a four-year nonprofit leadership training program, based out of the Southeast Institute in Athens, Ga., and its courses are taught at five different U.S. university locations. Crimmins said she found out about the leadership-building program from the Wyoming Chamber Partnership.
This year marked her fourth and final year with the IOM program in Madison.
"This is a really exciting time for me, and professionally I've learned so much information that it's mind-boggling," Crimmins said. "It's a confirmation that our chamber organization is on the right path at different levels, and I've been able to see where we've grown and where we do pretty well. I'm proud of our chamber, with where we've been and where we're going, and I'd like to thank our board of directors. There are many things I've learned that I'd like to implement."
Crimmins said that chamber and associate executives from all over the nation have attended IOM program courses. Participants can earn credit hours toward the Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) or Certified Association Executive (CAE) certifications, and nearly 1,000 individuals attend Institute annually.
"Institute graduates are recognized across the country as leaders in their industries and organizations," said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, the U.S. Chamber Foundation's vice president of Insitute for Organization Management. "These individuals have the knowledge, skills and dedication necessary to achieve professional and organizational success in the dynamic association and chamber industries."
Since its commencement in 1921, the Institute program has been educating tens of thousands of association, chamber and other nonprofit leaders on how to build stronger organizations, better serve their members and become strong business advocates. Institute's curriculum consists of four weeklong sessions at five different university locations throughout the country.
