Town hires new treasurer

The town of Saratoga has a new face balancing its checkbook, as Sammy Flohr becomes the town treasurer.

Flohr, who refers to himself as a "recovering Greeny", is originally from Lakewood, Colo., but has always wanted to live in Wyoming.

"I just wanted to get out of the city," Flohr said. "I used to come up here as kid. My dad was from Superior, which is near Rock Springs. I spent summers in Fremont Lake and the Green River in Flaming Gorge. I have always loved it up here [in Wyoming] and I always knew I would live here."

Flohr said he has been in Saratoga for about a year now, working as a bartender and night manager at the Saratoga Resort and Spa. He says he will continue to work both jobs, working at the town from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and head to the night job afterwards.

"I'm planning on keeping both those jobs for as long as I can maintain," he said.

His interest in the position came after he was approached by town clerk Suzie Cox.

"I just have an interest in the town. I met with Suzie and they decided to give me an opportunity," Flohr said.

Flohr's experience in accounting comes from a previous job in Colorado. He said he used to work in the accounting department at a marketing firm.

As a whole, Flohr said he is just happy to be living where he is and working for the town of Saratoga.

"It's a great place to live, the people here are awesome and hospitable," he said. "It's been an exciting year for me, and I'm looking forward to positive things."
