Speed leads to pot bust

A major marijuana bust took place near Elk Mountain.

54-year-old Randy Rheinhardt and 28-year-old Jon-Paul File, both from Evansville, Ind., were arrested on Feb. 4. The two men face felony charges for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, felony possession of a controlled substance in plat form and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance.

They were stopped on Interstate 80 about 12 miles from Elk Mountain.

Rheinhardt and File were stopped by Wyoming State Patrol for speeding 78 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone. The trooper discovered more than 20 pounds of marijuana in their car and Rheinhardt was reportedly under the influence of marijuana when he was pulled over. He has been charged with speeding and driving under the influence of drugs.

Though still under investigation, the marijuana is believed to have originated in California and was destined for an unknown location in Indiana.
