Shireen Ethel McAllister died at her home in Encampment on Monday Aug. 9, 2010. No services are planned at this time. Cremation has taken place.

Shireen was born March 31, 1939, in Rawlins, the daughter of Joseph and Ethel (Holmes) Burk.
She married C.J. McAllister Dec. 30, 1961, in Rawlins.

Her hobbies were reading and camping. She was a true lady who had high morals. She loved animals of every kind and would always bring home sick ones to nurse and keep. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Shireen was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Auxiliary of the American Disabled Veterans and the Retired Enlisted Association.

She is survived by her husband, C.J. McAllister, Encampment; children Theresa Marie Huntington, Tucson, Ariz., Shavon Lynn Wiles, Apache Junction, Ariz., Michael Shannon McAllister, Stanfield, Ore., and John Allen McAllister, Couer D’Alaine, Idaho; one sister, Dorothy R. Plunkett, Fort Collins, Colo.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Shireen was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Jo Ellen Burk.
