Rep., Senator field questions from Saratoga’s 55-plus crowd

House District 47 Representative Jeb Steward (R) and District 11 State Senator Jim Elliott (D) received questions from their constituents on Friday afternoon at the Saratoga Senior Center.
Steward was asked why the state does not currently have a medical school, and if establishing one would be possible in the future.
Steward explained that although the state’s demographics do not currently support the establishment of a medical school, funding is available for medical school graduates who contract to practice in Wyoming for three years after they graduate.
Steward also spoke briefly about the Million pipeline project, and what has occurred in the state legislature.
“Title 41 statutes require any amount of water above or greater than 1,000 acre/feet must have legislative approval to go out of state,” Steward said.
“So far there has been quite a bit of discussion on this project, and I feel the project will meet resistance in the legislature.”
“I have found very little support for the project,” he added.
Senator Elliott echoed Steward’s sentiments with regards to Million project.
The proposed pipeline would cost $400 million dollars and transport water from the Flaming Gorge Reservoir to Colorado’s front range communities through a 560-mile, 10 foot diameter pipeline.
