The Saratoga Lady Panthers had a busy week, facing off against the Wildcats of North Park High School in Walden Thursday, and against the Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow Lady Miners Friday. Eugene Bashor, 91, died August 28, 2017 at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Warren, Pennsylvania. In recent years, Eugene lived with his brother and family in Pennsylvania. The Copper Days Festival is getting ready to celebrate 23 years of giving families the opportunity to have fun watching vintage tractors vie for the title of strongest tractor. The event kicks off with a tractor parade at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Saratoga Panthers hit the gridiron at Kemmerer over the weekend, but a strong defensive effort was not enough to allow the cats to claw their way to victory over the 2A Kemmerer Rangers. The Saratoga Middle/High School (SMHS) cross country team participated in the Rawlins Invite this weekend. The invite, the second of the year for the team, was held at Sinclair Golf Course. High school varsity boys competed in the 5K at the event, and Jarom Herring placed 18th with a time of 19:46.64. Also placing for Saratoga in the 5K was Gage Bartlett, who did the run in 21:48.84. Kay Embree, member of American Legion Auxiliary (ALA), approached the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and the ALA about a grant to help get the Medicine Bow community garden cleaned up for a 9/11 memorial service, and was awarded $1,000. Numerous projects are set to be completed for the memorial including installing a memorial bench and sign, inlaying an ALA emblem, planting trees and building a gravel pathway.
