    The Carbon County School District No.2 school district drama club will be bringing the 2016-2017 school year to a close with performances of "Aladdin" at the Platte Valley Community Center in Saratoga. Even though "Aladdin" is a story from "One Thousand and One Nights," a collection of folk tales from the Middle East and South Asia, viewers in the Valley will have just two nights-June 1-2 at 6 p.m.-to see this year's production.     Saratoga's famous "Hobo Pool" will be the final stop on the Saratoga Museum Mineral Hot Springs "Go with the Flow" history trek scheduled for Saturday, June 3.     Editor's note: As of press time, the Snowy Range byway is open. The Battle Pass byway is expected to open Friday. Scott Kinniburgh with Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) faces adversity when getting the passes open on Wyoming 130 and Wyoming 70, not just from the snow, but also the machines he needs to use to get the roads clear.     To most people who know me in Wyoming, it is not much of a secret I worked in the world of spirits (not the ghostly type) to make my living. Probably less well known, I earned my bread and butter as an English teacher in Taiwan for almost half a decade.     You may have noticed the Saratoga Sun now covers a larger portion of Carbon County. We have recently began to cover Hanna, Elk Mountain and Medicine Bow on a more regular basis. There are several reasons this has come to be. There are developments, both social and economic happening in those areas that are, and will be, of interest to the entire county. We have been witnessing a rebirth of sorts in businesses growth and an overall improvement in terms of positivity in the northern end of the county.   • Lynch pins teaching career

    Catherine didn't know there was a party. Her husband, Pat, had placed an ad in the Saratoga Sun about the retirement party Saturday at Grand Encampment park, but then hid the paper from her. Long time Encampment teacher Catherine Lynch only found out about the surprise retirement party held to honor her years of teaching when a well-wisher let Lynch know that they would be unable to attend the party.     Dario Soto is 82 years old and he is the physical education teacher for Medicine Bow and Elk Mountain Elementary schools. Thursday he had his annual field day which usually has both schools participate. Unfortunately, due to the weather throwing a late spring snow storm at the state, Elk Mountain Elementary students could not come to Medicine Bow to join in the activities.
