    Lifelong Beaver Creek rancher, Wayne Winthrop Platt, 93, of Encampment, Wyoming, passed away at the Saratoga Care Center on November 10, 2016. Wayne was born May 9, 1923, at the home of Wynn Sr. and Aurilla Condict, sister and brother-in-law to his mother Awilda and father Ralph H. Platt. After two days, he traveled by wagon, with his mother and father to the family ranch located on Beaver Creek, where he would spend the rest of his life. A former resident of Saratoga, Betty ran and operated the Corral Drive-In for several years. Betty was born in Antigo, Wis. to Arthur and Marie Moore on May 2, 1926. She married Ernest Dahlke on July 20, 1944 in Wisconsin. Ernie served in the US Navy during World War II and after the war was over, Betty and Ernie moved to Wyoming. After graduation he attended Trinidad State College and University of Colorado Boulder earning a BS in economics before heading back home to head the Huerafano/Las Animas Council of Government for several years.     Marcella Ellen "Pat" (née Gilligan) Johnson was born on a farm in eastern South Dakota (Estelline) on September 30, 1910. She lived to be 106. Pat was the last surviving sibling of 14 children.     Wyoming’s month-to-month unemployment rate saw a decrease of 0.3 percent, bringing the state’s unemployment rate to 5.1 percent for the month of October. That is only 0.2 points higher than the U.S. average of 4.9 percent.     Permits to cut Christmas trees on the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests are now available at multiple locations in Colorado and Wyoming, according to a press release from the U.S. Forest Service. Each permit costs $10 and allows for the cutting of one tree on National Forest System Lands. There is a limit of five permits per household. Trees must be for personal use, and cannot be resold.
