Seven counties have been awarded grants to implement a Project Lifesaver program in their county. Carbon County joins Natrona, Laramie and Converse counties in the Lifesaver program. Rawlins native and former resident Braden Blake Nelson passed on unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 8th, 2016 at his residence in Saratoga from a heart attack. He was 58. A visitation was Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the Carbon County Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. in Rawlins. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 18 at the First United Methodist Church at 11 a.m., also in Rawlins. The Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD#2) Board of Trustees agreed to discontinue the district’s golf program at the Feb. 17 meeting. As described by CCSD#2 Superintendent Jim Copeland, Saratoga Resort and Spa was funding the program almost fully, which is the only reason it was adopted in the first place. It was a tough weekend for the Saratoga Lady Panthers (1-5, 5-11) as they fell to Niobrara County on Friday and Southeast on Saturday. The Saratoga Panthers lost to the Lusk Tigers 65-51 Friday. Head coach Jason Williams said he was very proud of how hard the boys played, noting that they came back from a 15 point lag and then led for some time.
