Tigers still trying to find their groove

Encampment continues to struggle on the hardwood, falling to Farson-Eden and Cokeville

The Encampment Tigers’ basketball problems have continued, having not won a game since beating Rock River 74-16 on homecoming week.

Since then, Encampment has fallen to Valley and conference rival the Saratoga Panthers and a lost non-conference matchup against the Upton Bobcats. The Tigers would lose three more conference matchups against the Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Rattlers, the Farson-Eden Pronghorns and the Cokeville Panthers.

So far the Tigers have been winless in conference play.

Tigers vs. Pronghorns

Farson Eden is one of many teams the Tigers have struggled with. Encampment just simply had trouble controlling the ball against the Longhorns defense.

Jake Johnston, head coach of the Encampment Tigers, said it was a tough week. Especially going up against two tough conference rivals.

“We played two very good opponents this weekend,” Johnston said. “Against Farson we struggled in all aspects in the first half and turned it around and played much better in the second half. Rebounding was still a tough task for us against the horns.”

The final score was 70-38, Farson-Eden.

Tigers vs. Panthers

For what it is worth, the Tigers played much better against the top ranked Cokeville Panthers despite losing by 15 points. Johnston said he knew it would not be easy against Cokeville. He said his guys played much better than the day before despite the loss.

“We played much better the next day against Cokeville,” Johnston “We were able to get some rebounds and pass the ball much better.”

The final score was 57-42, Cokeville.
