Experience "Riding the Stage" at Saratoga Library Nov. 16th

History buffs and folks interested in this area’s pictorial heritage are invited to climb aboard the stage running from Walcott Junction, Wyo., to Pearl, Colo., Thursday evening, Nov. 16th.

Boarding will be at 6:30 in the Saratoga Branch Library for a 45 minute narrated video stage coach ride to be presented by Dick Perue of Historical Reproductions by Perue. Perue is a collector of Saratoga & Encampment valley history and is working to “preserve local history one picture at a time” through programs, publications and contributions to both the Saratoga and Grand Encampment Museums.

Sponsored by Friends of the Saratoga Library, the free program is entitled “Riding the Stage” through the scenic, historic Upper North Platte River Valley and features more than 150 photographs, drawing and maps, with descriptions.

Perue noted that it is an informal presentation spotlighting the people, animals, places, towns, ranches and scenery a person would have encountered if they rode a stage coach from Walcott Junction south to Pearl during the period of 1878 to 1910.

The same illustrations are used in a publication by Perue, called “Riding the Stage”, which will be available for those wishing to purchase it.

As an added attraction Perue will also present a short slide show outlining a digital program he and supporters are doing to preserve several thousands historic photos, manuscripts, books, etc.
