Fun, so far

College has been a great experience so far.  Granted, it's not very exciting considering I spend most of my time outside of school work being on the debate team and playing video games.  I also spend time with friends, with that time revolving around debate and video games.  Usually that time is dedicated to both.

A semi-tradition formed during the past school year where a group of friends on the debate team would go to Taco Bell after practice and then spend the rest of the night playing Nintendo's Super Smash Bros Ultimate.  This weekly occurrence was a cornerstone of the semester, but there were also more spontaneous get togethers.

One night I got a text from my friend Mel at about nine o' clock in the evening.  Just a simple ask if I wanted to go play "ghost game" (the Luigi's Ghost Mansion minigame from Nintendo Land)  with the group.  I immediately said yes.  Mel then asked if we should invite my sister Jaden, to which I also responded yes.  This "invitation" to my sister was more like a silent agreement to just go kidnap her since it is impossible to convince her to join most video game nights.  What followed was the greatest heist I have gone on in college.

Phase One: The Pickup

After the plan is in place, I wait about ten minutes for Mel to drive to my apartment and pick me up.  She arrives, I buckle up, and we start towards the target.

Phase Two: The Break In

Jaden lived in the dorms on campus since she was a freshman.  The first obstacle was getting into the dorms as they require a keycard to enter.  Since neither of us lived in the dorms, we expected this to be a challenge.  Thankfully, it was not, as we saw a friend outside who lived in the dorm who let us in.

Phase Three: The Kidnapping

We make our way to her room on the sixth floor, then loudly and obnoxiously knock on the door.  A silent minute follows, then Jaden's roommate opens the door with the most confused expression I have ever seen on another person.  Jaden is already lying in bed, getting ready to go to sleep.  She was in no way prepared for us to show up - the infiltration was a rousing success.

Phase Four: The Getaway

We tell Jaden we're kidnapping her to go play the ghost game, then spend five minutes awkwardly standing in the hallway as we wait for her to take out her retainer and put on some shoes.  After she's ready, we leave the building and go to the secondary location.  We spend the next three hours playing video games.  Mission accomplished.

At the end of the day, most of my college stories involve kidnapping my sister in some form or another.  However if you want a moral to this story, it's probably something along the lines of: sleep is overrated, hang out with friends instead.
