Unofficial results now official

Carbon County’s Canvass Board completed its canvass of the 2022 General Election November 10 and the results from the general election are now official.

The final, official results are available on Carbon County’s website at http://www.carbonwy.com/997/Election-Results.

These are unchanged from the unofficial results including the recount that was required for the tie in the Sinclair Town Council 4 year race. The tie was broken by “casting lots” and David Robinson was deemed the winner. No provisional ballots were counted of the three received.

In addition, Katie Gibson withdrew from the Baggs Councilperson race prior to the election therefore write-ins were counted for that race. The complete list of certified write-ins is available on the same webpage as the results.

Also noted on that webpage, the results from Sweetwater County must be added for two races before winners of the Carbon County School District #1 race and the LSR Conservation District can be finalized.

As part of this process, the post-election audit was completed. The cast vote record was compared to the ballot image to prove the equipment accurately tallied the votes. There were no issues with this process and the outcome.

Finally, 151 new registrations and 127 changes from the polls (278 total) were processed. These are in addition to changes and new registrations that occurred before and during absentee voting–changes could be name, address or party.

Gwynn Bartlett, Carbon County Clerk, said, “at this time I can’t tell you any detail about the registrations or changes, just the total number we had. I really want to thank the poll workers as they are imperative to a successful election process. We obviously couldn’t do it without each of them and we appreciate their service!

Overall things went great on Election Day!”
