Panthers basketball bringing leadership to the court

Head Coach Jason Williams said his seven returning seniors will lead the team this weekend at the Burns tournament.

Williams pointed out that he has a large senior class including last years’ starters Rod Escobedo, Jace Berger, Darian Williams and Cameron Lehr along with Christian Soles, Aaron Kerbs and Danny Brannon. Junior Morgan Rempel fills out the list of returning players.

“We’re pretty balanced, and then there’s the senior leadership,” Williams said looking forward to the first games of the year in Burns, adding, “Our returning starters are going to be a real benefit for us.”

The coach said he has been working on fundamentals with the team and getting their basic offense and defense into shape. Williams said based on what he has seen in practice, he is excited to get the team on the floor and show everybody where they are at.

According to Williams, the big game of the weekend will be the game against Laramie-Fort Lingle, which will be the first conference match-up of the year for the Panthers.

The Panthers start the Burns Tournament with a 3 p.m. tip off against the Moorcroft Wolves on Friday. Friday night the Panthers face the Shoshoni Wranglers starting at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday at 5:30 p.m. the Saratoga boys tip off against Laramie-Fort Lingle.
