Carbon County caught on tape

Five, two-minute promotional videos will be filmed in areas throughout Carbon County.

Digital Top House, a Salt Lake City based production company, has been contracted to make the videos, according to Leslie Jefferson, Executive Director of Carbon County Visitors’ Council (CCVC). According to Jefferson, the videos will serve to draw visitors interested in visiting Wyoming to the Platte Valley.

“Those will be up on our website once they’re completed, hopefully by the end of this year,” Jefferson said. “We’re just in the beginning stages.”

“This is going to have a documentary feel to it, but more like ‘What can you do when you get to Carbon County?’” Jefferson said.

The crew will begin in Rawlins on Aug. 19, traveling then to Seminoe, Hanna, Elk Mountain and Saratoga until filming is completed on Aug. 21.

Locals and tourists will not be included in the videos, Jefferson said, as she has been in contact with people that will take part in interviews. The videos will focus on the area more than the people. “We’ll probably have a voice over on some of it,” Jefferson said.

The videos will have different themes, including Seminoe Resevoir and Miracle Mile, Medicine Bow and Elk Mountain, the Little Snake River Valley and Rawlins. One video featuring the Platte Valley will highlight scenic drives, Saratoga hot pool and the towns. According to Jefferson, museums will be highlighted in the towns, and she is working on including hunting and the shooting range.

At this point, Jefferson says, the videos are not planned to air on television, though they have an opportunity to cooperate with the state in order to schedule them during television programming.
