Terry, Wood, selected for award

The Carbon County Realtors Association has selected their 2015 Realtor of the Year and Businessperson of the Year.

This year Carolyn Terry, associate broker/manager at Century 21 Cornerstone Realty, was selected Realtor of the Year and Liz Wood, publisher of the Saratoga Sun, was selected Businessperson of the Year.

According to Laurie Forster, Realtor at Town & Country Realty and this year’s Chairman for the Realtor of the Year selection committee, Realtors throughout Carbon County nominated the recipients.

“A letter is sent out every year requesting nominations for the (Carbon County) Realtors Association,” said Forster. “They submit those then they decide out of the number of nominations who should be chosen.”

There is a committee for both the Realtor of the Year and Businessperson of the Year; where they process the nominations and determine the best candidate.

According to Forster, “She (Terry) was well deserving of it and her name will go onto the state convention for state Realtor of the Year.”

For Businessperson of the Year, specific criteria make candidates stand out to the Realtors Association.

“It’s a Realtor selecting the business that they notice or businessperson that they notice doing something extra,” Forster stated. “It’s us giving of another person and noticing and acknowledging it as a Realtor trying to do something good in our community.”

Susan Speer, broker/owner at Century 21 Cornerstone Realty, noticed Liz in the community. “I was so totally impressed by her constant trying to learn new things, her curiosity and, quite frankly, her stamina. There are not many people who can keep up with the schedule she has.”

Both are now be in the running for State Realtor of the Year (Terry) and State Businessperson of the Year (Wood), according to Forster. This event will be held at the annual Wyoming Association of Realtors convention Sept. 15-18 at the Holiday Inn in Cheyenne, Wyo.
