A chance to say thanks

Saturday, Sen. Mike Enzi will be in Saratoga to award the Purple Heart to Robert James. To be awarded a Purple Heart, one has to be harmed by something that is meant to injure during wartime.

It has been several years since a member of the armed forces was awarded a Purple Heart in the Valley.

With tensions so thick after the beheading of two American journalists and the beheading of a British journalist, war in Syria is most likely eminent, and Americans once again find themselves on high alert.

Everyday service members are in harm’s way or have the possibility of being in harm’s way. Soldiers can be deployed at a moment’s notice.

Saturday is the perfect time to come and say “Thank you for your service.”

The presentation begins at 10:30 a.m. Veterans from the American Legion and the VFW will be there to show their respect to James.

What better place to do it than Khe Sanh West Park, a place dedicated to the fallen from past wars.

As Americans, we have a tendency to only thank our veterans on special days like Veterans Day or Memorial Day.

Let’s make this day special for Robert and come out to say “Thanks”.
