Parker, Ralston pass EMT training

Two new graduates from the South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Service (SCWEMS) training program were announced at Thursday’s Riverside Town Council meeting.

Helen Weiland, EMT and Encampment Station Manager for SCWEMS, said there were two graduates from Encampment who recently passed the EMT class. The two were Virginia Parker and Kelly Ralston.

“They both passed their EMT and will be getting their EMT cards, so we have two new EMTs on our service,” Weiland said. “We’re so excited about that.”

Weiland said she looks forward to future EMT graduates.

“I think there are a couple EMTs coming up, and once they get mentored and have been on the service, I think they would be very good station managers,” she said.

Weiland also gave thanks to Heidi Sifford, who has been the SCWEMS director since the beginning of this year.

“We hired Heidi, and she is being groomed as an ambulance director,” she said. “She is going to take intermediate training and she is just doing a tremendous job and coming along extremely fast. We have a chairman of the board, ambulance director and representative from Saratoga all in the same person.”

In other news, the council also approved the Fiscal Year 2014-15 budget on its third and final reading. John Farr also distributed updated Wyoming state maps and “Wyoming Road Trip” booklets, which feature scenic byways across the state.

The next Riverside Town Council meeting takes place at 6 p.m. July 10 at Riverside Town Hall.
