Planning commission hashes out new bylaws

The town of Saratoga planning commission spent the majority of their Feb. 11 meeting examining their bylaws.

Board members were asked to compile a list of revisions at their last meeting on Jan. 11 meeting. They selected items from other town planning commission bylaws.

A new proposal to the bylaws would allow Councilman Steve Wilcoxson to maintain a position on the board, however, he would not be allotted a vote on the planning Commission.

Members of the board cited that this would prevent Wilcoxson from having two votes — one on the planning commission and one on the town council.

Board members discussed membership qualifications for future citizens to join the planning commission.

The new bylaws have to be approved by the town council and the town attorney before it can be fully implemented.

The planning commission also said that they will hold a workshop to finalize all proposed bylaws.

Additionally, town engineer Chuck Bartlett announced that the planning commission will be holding a workshop with the town attorney pertaining to the home occupation permits discussed at their Dec. 10 meeting.

The planning commission will be at 5:30 p.m. on March 11 at Saratoga Town Hall.
