Winning one for dad

Winner of Ranger plans to give it to his father

Mike Doege, of Rawlins, bought five tickets at the Rawlins True Value on Jan. 10, 2014. One of those tickets was drawn on Jan. 11 at the Saratoga Lions Club Casino Night.

The lucky ticket won Doege a Polaris Ranger 800XP donated by Shively Hardware.

When E.J. Glode called Doege after pulling his name Jan. 11, Doege's response was "Are you (kidding) me?"

Doege purchased a RZR in 2012 from Shively Hardware and is very happy with it, he said.

"My dad wants to upgrade to the Ranger 800XP, so I am going to give it to him," Doege said.

His dad lives in Wisconsin and won't be coming to Wyoming until Memorial Day weekend. Doege said the Ranger may have a few miles on it before his dad picks it up in the spring.

Doege told Glode the reason his parents wanted the new Ranger is because of the safety features on it like the seatbelt.

Glode said 853 of the 1,300 tickets were sold and the raffle raised $17,060 for the Platte Valley Community Center fundraiser. This is the ninth year that Shively Hardware has donated a Polaris vehicle for the the PVCC fundraiser, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the PVCC.

Glode said many of the winners have been Polaris customers with Shively's in the past.
