William L. 'Bill' Bartlett

William L. "Bill" Bartlett passed away Dec. 21, 2013 at Deseret Health Care in Saratoga. He was 92 years old.

Bill was born in Rawlins on April 14, 1921, to Garland Philip Bartlett and Pearl Ellen (Frisby) Bartlett. He was the middle child of three children. Bill was raised on ranches west of Saratoga, and was a graduate of Saratoga High School.

On Dec. 26, 1943 he married Marguerite Marie Sallade. They had six children, five of whom survived.

Bill served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, after which he returned to ranching. Following the sale of the Adams Ranch on South Spring Creek, and leasing the Jack Creek Ranch, Bill managed the Lazy River Ranch, Big Creek Ranches, and the Artic Investment Ranch at Alcova.

During Marie's final illness the couple moved to Casper where Bill was a land man for Gulf Oil, a position he held for the 10 years prior to his retirement in 1985.

Bill married Claudia Munroe on April 10, 1998. The couple resided in Saratoga and together enjoyed many vacations and hunting trips, as well as taking care of their home.

Bill was an avid hunter. His marksmanship skills won him a 300 Weatherley. He loved all phases of ranching and cowboying, and was a pioneer member of the Cowboy Turtle Rodeo Association. One of his greatest joys was his many friends and their families.

Preceding Bill in death were his parents; an infant daughter; his wife, Marie; grandson, Brent Bartlett; son, Steve Bartlett; and his older brother, Garland Bartlett Sr. Also predeceasing him were his nephew Billy Eaton; niece, Evelyn Allred; sister-in-law, Elsie Bartlett; brothers-in-law, Bill Eaton and Allen Sallade; and good friends, Jane Glode, Dr. Carl Gunter, Ben McCormick, and J.T. McCormick.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Claudia, and his step daughters; Cathy Glenn, Monica (Chris) Solaas, Melissa (Beau) Addison, and their families. His surviving children include Katherine (Steven) Lindemood, Bob (Peggy) Bartlett, John (Pam) Bartlett, Joan (John) Ervin, and daughter-in-law Maggie Bartlett. He leaves seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Betty Eaton.

A memorial service will be held around Father's Day of 2014.
