Kayci Swimley fundraiser coming to Whistle Pig

A fundraising party to benefit car accident victim Kayci Swimley will take place Sept. 21 at the Whistle Pig Saloon in Saratoga.

Saratoga residents, Tonya Hartman and Maggie Ingleby are helping organize this event meant to financially benefit Swimley, who is from Saratoga and currently still hospitalized. According to Hartman, Swimley was injured in a car wreck while on the way to Casper July 27.

“She was ejected from her car, and broke all her ribs and her back in two parts,” Hartman said. “She also ripped her spleen, broke her collar bone and punctured her lung, and was life-flighted to Swedish Medical Hospital in Englewood, Colo. She’s a really close friend and is like family to us.”

Featured at the event will be mud volleyball tournaments, games of horseshoes, children’s games, a Mexican Buffet, a raffle with several donations and possibly a DJ. Ingleby said the fundraiser is meant to help Swimley with bills and other expenses, and to help pay for Swimley’s adoptive mother’s transporation cost to Wyoming. Swimley’s mother lives in Oregon, to drive to Wyoming, after Swimley is released from the hospital.

The fundraiser takes place from 2 to 9 p.m., Sept. 21 at the Whistle Pig Saloon.

Organizers are still determining whether to charge an entry fee for the event or to collect donation.
